The picture was taken on Monday June 6th. when Sec. of Def. Robert Gates made a surprise visit to their outpost and presented most of the men there with a gold coin that he had minted for his visit. He visited with approx. 1800 troops at three bases on Monday, part of his Farwell trip as he is retiring the end of June.
