Ammo Dump Blast March 15th, 2008
Hi,Don't know if you heard about the explosion in Albania on the news. An ammo storage facility exploded and I was sent here Easter morning. I am working on the EOD Team (Explosive Ordanance Disposal) trying to recover the unexploded rounds and shells that are laying and buried everywhere. I don't know how long I'll be here yet. There are only 17 of us from the US. We are working for the Ambassador here in Tirana. The blast from this was heard over 120 miles away, destroyed and damaged over 4200 buildings, as of today 24 have died and over 300 are in the hospitals in Albania, Masidonia, Greece and Italy and numerous people are missing at the site.
